If you ran into Jesus on the street, in the movie theatre, or just about anywhere would you really know it is him? How? Is it the way that he dresses, or the way he combs his hair? What about the accent in his voice?
I have to tell you about the Jesus that I met this past Sunday, and no it was not the one that I typically meet at Mass. I met this one in a classroom.....It was the Jesus that does not make a big scene about the action he/she is about to take, not at all calling attention to themself.
This Jesus simply needed help or direction on how to let the love that was inside of them flow out to others in need.
It was so profound! this Jesus had made something for some one and wanted to have it blessed before they sent it off to a special someone that was headed for difficult times... into a hostile environment where they would need all the love and strength and support from family and friends. This Jesus I met was willing to step up and provide the love and friendship to this person that would help them to carry on inspite of hardship! Isn't that what Jesus asked us to do when he gave us that important commandment....."Love one another as I have loved you"!
I am so thrilled to have been able to help Jesus to channel their love to their friend! It really made my day! Thank You for being Jesus.

seeking and maintaining a relationship with God
This is difficult sounding task isn't it? Consider the fact that God is that extraordinary being that we cannot see and touch physically in our everyday lives.
First we need to remember that the invitation to be in a relationship, to communicate always originates from God. We are simply seeking a way to answer God's call to relationship.
The fact that God created us is a call to be in constant communion with him. Talk about LOVE!
The first thing we need to do to deepen this friendship is just what we do in all the other friendships we are a part of. We need to take the time to place ourselves in a position to hear and talk to our friend. How and where have you seen God or the actions of God today. Was it in creation? I had the opportunity to walk to work today and the trees were just beautiful! Where do all these colors come from? I imagined myself sitting in my tree stand and just becoming lost in all the colors and animals around the woods. I thought for a moment about the fact that the leaves are all falling off the trees and soon will come cold and snow and it may seem quite lifeless in our neck of the woods. But then I realized that the same trees losing leaves will once a gain in spring be full of green new growth........RECREATED!
What about seeing God in the people around you today? Where did you see love, friendship, caring, help. These relationships not only make us happy throughout our day they also bring us closer to God by witnessing to the good in all of us.
Finally today take the time to talk with God. Prayer from your heart! Tell him how thankful you are that you lived this day. How you enjoyed what he has created for you to be a part of. Share with him/her just what made you happy and sad and frustrated today! A good friend is a great listener if you talk to them! Finally ask for God to continue to journey with you....tomorrow, next week, next year and throughout the rest of your life. I really do not know if there is a quick way to establish a relationship with God. But when you think about it ...This journey is as enjoyable and rewarding as the gift he has for us at the finish line! Ya Got To Work It!
Peace,
Jeff

something new!
Its always great and a little challenging to start something new. Just like now! But I hope you may find this blog helpful and both challenging at times. Our focus here on the blog for the youth of St. Katharine Drexel is to present some of the happenings here at SKD as well as stimulate some thought as people of FAITH!
I hope to be able to use this site to answer some of the questions that youth ask me regarding our faith and how we can live our lives as Catholic Christians in this somewhat complex world we are in.
Did you happen to see the President this morning talking about the economy to the US Chamber of Commerce. We all know the situation of the economy lately. It seems very dark and many of us are scared at what is happening to our life savings and how we are going to pay our bills, put our kids through college, etc. . .
As Catholic Christians we know this story all too well. It is the same story that we know from our history as a people.....dark times of slavery, persecution, and the like.
But we also know how this all plays out. In the end, GOD WINS! And we as part of the Kingdom are part of this enourmous, joyful victory! We all end up in the comfort of our Risen Lord, Jesus Christ!
And God's Church said: Amen!
