seeking and maintaining a relationship with God

This is difficult sounding task isn't it? Consider the fact that God is that extraordinary being that we cannot see and touch physically in our everyday lives.
First we need to remember that the invitation to be in a relationship, to communicate always originates from God. We are simply seeking a way to answer God's call to relationship.
The fact that God created us is a call to be in constant communion with him. Talk about LOVE!
The first thing we need to do to deepen this friendship is just what we do in all the other friendships we are a part of. We need to take the time to place ourselves in a position to hear and talk to our friend. How and where have you seen God or the actions of God today. Was it in creation? I had the opportunity to walk to work today and the trees were just beautiful! Where do all these colors come from? I imagined myself sitting in my tree stand and just becoming lost in all the colors and animals around the woods. I thought for a moment about the fact that the leaves are all falling off the trees and soon will come cold and snow and it may seem quite lifeless in our neck of the woods. But then I realized that the same trees losing leaves will once a gain in spring be full of green new growth........RECREATED!
What about seeing God in the people around you today? Where did you see love, friendship, caring, help. These relationships not only make us happy throughout our day they also bring us closer to God by witnessing to the good in all of us.
Finally today take the time to talk with God. Prayer from your heart! Tell him how thankful you are that you lived this day. How you enjoyed what he has created for you to be a part of. Share with him/her just what made you happy and sad and frustrated today! A good friend is a great listener if you talk to them! Finally ask for God to continue to journey with you....tomorrow, next week, next year and throughout the rest of your life. I really do not know if there is a quick way to establish a relationship with God. But when you think about it ...This journey is as enjoyable and rewarding as the gift he has for us at the finish line! Ya Got To Work It!
Peace,
Jeff
